YOUTH WRESTLING: Tiger Youth Wrestling takes third place at regional tournament, earns state tournament entry

MARSHALL – After 10 hours in the gym and five team matches on Saturday, the Tiger Youth Wrestling team took third place out of 14 teams in Region 2, earning a spot in the NWYA State Tournament to be held in Rochester on March 31st-April 2nd. The State Team Tournament consists of 32 teams from the five Minnesota State Regions.

The Tigers entered the tournament as the sixth seed. They started the day by defeating TMB-WWG 42-34. In round two, the Tigers defeated St. Peter 45-34, putting them into the quarterfinal round. The Tigers fell to Albert Lea, the eventual Region 2 Champions, in the quarterfinal round 45-26. The Tigers then bounced back to defeat Adrian 54-18. In their final round, the Tigers beat the Minneota team 53-22 to take third place. Overall, the Tigers went 4-1 on the day.

This is the fourth consecutive year that the Tiger Youth Team has qualified for the State Tournament.
