SMSU ATHLETICS: SMSU ranked 10th in NSIC All-Sports standings

Augustana takes lead in standings

BURNSVILLE – The NSIC All-Sports Standings have been accumulated following the winter sports season and Augustana leads with 109.5 points. Minnesota State is second with 101.5 points while MSU Moorhead is third with 87.75 points.

Augustana took over the lead by finishing second in women’s basketball, third in wrestling, and tying for fourth in men’s basketball. Minnesota State won the NSIC Women’s and Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championships while St. Cloud State took home the NSIC Wrestling and Swimming & Diving Championships. MSU Moorhead moved into third place after winning both the men’s and women’s basketball regular season championships.

The NSIC All-Sports Award is calculated by awarding the winner of each conference-sponsored championship points totaling the number of teams in that sport plus one. The next place finisher receives points totaling the number of teams less the number of places from first place. Ties in the standings at any level shall result in the totaling of points and equal distribution. Indoor and outdoor track & field are computed at half the total points as listed in the previous mentioned categories.

The All-Sports Champion will be announced following the spring season, with the award being presented at the NSIC Summer Kickoff in Burnsville, Minnesota in July.
