PREP SPORTS: Wabasso’s Mitchell Fulton earns Triple A award

WABASSO – The Academics, Arts, and Athletic Award was established in 1988 and is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League. The Region 3A, Sub Region 9 winner for the boys is Mitchell Fulton from Wabasso High School. Fulton is the son of Jon and Kelly Fulton.

During Fulton’s high school days, he has been involved in a variety of different activities, such as football, wrestling, track, band and choir. Fulton has been an outstanding athlete and leader. He has earned numerous letters. He’s been a team captain. He’s earned all-conference honors, and has been a state participant in three sports.

The Wabasso Rabbits football team and Fulton had an outstanding fall. The team won the section 5A football Championship and advanced to the state class A tournament, losing in the semifinals.

Fulton gained over 2,220 yards rushing and scored over 30 touchdowns this fall. He was a finalist for Mr. Football. He was selected to the all-state football team and Viking all-state team.

Fulton has over 140 wins in his wrestling career and was a state participant with the Wabasso/Red Rock Central Section 3AA Champions as a junior.

In track Fulton has participated in two state class A track meets as a sophomore and junior.

Fulton is a true role model at Wabasso High School, and is well respected among his peers. His future plan is to attend college and major in math. He also plans on participating in football and or track. Joe Kemp, Wabasso’s athletic director will present Fulton with a plaque, a medal and a certificate for being the Region 3A, Sub Region 9 winner.
