PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: No. 3 Marshall runs around Windom Area

WINDOM – No. 3 Marshall defeated Windom Area 67-30 on Thursday.

Zach Bloemker hit four 3-pointers to score a game-high 16 points. Weston Baker Magrath added 14 points in the win, while Mitch Sueker finished with eight points and four rebounds.

Marshall (17-1, 10-0 Big South) hosts Worthington tonight.

GRANITE FALLS – The Yellow Medicine East basketball team lost their 10th straight game Thursday when they were tripped up by Benson 59-51.

Tom Lindstrom did a bit of everything for the Sting, scoring 13 points, grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out seven assists. Will Jeseritz scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

The Sting (1-11) will look to snap their losing streka tonight when they travel to Tracy to take on Tracy-Milroy-Balaton.

EDGERTON – The Murray County Central Rebels used a strong first half to pick up a 62-39 victory over Edgerton. With the win the Rebels improved to 8-10 overall.

Cole Bassett led the Rebels iwth 19 points. Brad Schreiber reached double figures with 12 points.

The Rebels will look to pick up their third straight win Tuesday when they host Southwest Minnesota Christian.

WINDOM – The Marshall Tigers used a stong defensive performance to pick up a 50-32 victory against Windom. With the win the Tigers improved to 11-8 and picked up their third straight win.

Natalie Petrich led the Tigers with 13 points. Kaia Sueker knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points.

Marshall will aim to make it four in a row tonight when they travel to Worthington.

Impressive on the court for the Blackjacks was Kaitlyn Willander with 12 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals along with Mary Bothun who marked up four points, six rebounds, one assist and one steal. The Blackjacks are next scheduled to play Central Minnesota Christian on Tuesday and their record falls to 7-12 with Thursday’s loss.

The Canby Lancers hosted the Yellow Medicine East Sting on Thursday where the Lancers came out on top, 65-54. Impressive on the court for YME was Kaitlyn Mortenson with six points, Anna McCosh with 11 points, Madison Hinz with 21 points and Hannah Gullickson with 12 points. Aiding the Lancers in their win was Natalie Dinius with 20 points and three steals as well as Sidney Sisk with 18 points, five assists and two blocks. The Lancers are next scheduled to play Lakeview on Tuesday and have an overall record of 17-2 while YME is scheduled to play TMB and has an overall record of 8-10.

LITCHFIELD – Marshall picked up a 1-0 win at Section 3A opponent Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato on Thursday.

The game was scoreless until the final minute, but that’s when Mason Plante broke through with a second-chance goal with just 20 seconds on the clock.

Marshall (14-6-1) travels to St. Peter/LeSueur-Henderson/Tri-City United on Saturday.

TRACY – Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove opened a home triangular with a 46-24 win over BOLD on Thursday night.

The Panthers got pins from Levi Ellingson (113), Tyler Vandendriessche (132) and Trevor Eisfeld (152).

Anthony Axford (145) got a major decision victory, while Ayden Horner (106) and Derek VanDam (126) won by decision.
