PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall boys basketball stifles Willmar in first half

MARSHALL – Marshall stayed undefeated at home with an 84-56 win over Willmar on Friday.

It was a balanced scoring effort for the Tigers, as four players finished in double digits. In total, 12 players scored for Marshall.

Zach Bloemker hit five 3-pointers to lead the way with 19 points.

Mitch Sueker added 14 points and five rebounds while Trey Lance scored 11 points in the win.

Weston Baker Magrath finished with 10 points, five rebounds and one electrifying putback dunk.

Marshall (21-2) hosts Hutchinson today.

GRANITE FALLS – The Yellow Medicine East boys basketball team fell to MACCRAY 80-64 on Friday. The Sting were stung by a slow second half in which they were outscored 41-31.

Nick Peterson scored 20 points and grabbed five rebounds. Will Jeseritz scored 11 points. Trent Skjefte and Tom Lindstrom both chipped in with nine points.

The Sting will travel to Montevideo on Tuesday.

MARSHALL – Marshall edged St. Peter 53-46 in the Big South Crossover on Friday.

Maddie Marks and Natalie Petrich led the way offensively for Marshall with 11 points apiece. Petrich also recorded seven rebounds and three assists in the win.

The Tigers won despite losing the turnover battle, 17-11.

Marshall (13-12) closes its regular season Tuesday at Sioux Falls Roosevelt.

COTTONWOOD – The Lakeview Lakers improved to 12-12, with a convincing 72-38 victory over Renville County West. The Lakers exploded for 41 second half points to run away from RCW.

Maddie Fenske recorded a double-double, with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Fenske made driving into the paint a challenge all night, recorded eight blocks.

Sadie Stelter scored 18 points and dished out six assists. Brooklin Peltier scored 12 points, dished out five assits and recorded six steals. Erin Stevens chippe din with 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

The Lakers will wrap up the regular season on Monday when they travel to Wabasso to take on the Rabbits.

CANBY – The Canby girls suffered their fourth loss of the season Friday with a 77-63 loss to Southwest Minneosta Christian. With the loss the Lancers wrapped up the regular season with a 19-4 record.

Natalie Dinius led the Lancers with 20 points and came down with seven rebounds. Sydney Sisk scored 16 points and dished out four assists.

Canby will play the winner of the Hendricks and Renville County West game on Saturday in Montevideo.
