YOUTH HOCKEY: Marshall Pee Wee A hockey hosts tournament over weekend
MARSHALL – The Marshall Pee Wee Hockey team hosted its home tournament – featuring 16 total teams – at the Red Baron Arena & Expo this past weekend. Marshall Pee Wee A finished in third place in their eight team bracket.
Marshall started the tournament by defeating Prairie Center (Sauk Centre, Melrose, Long Prairie) by a score of 8-3. Braxton Meyer led the scoring for Marshall with five goals. Wyatt Boerboom added two goals and Parker Schmitt scored one.
Marshall PWA then fell to LDC (Litchfield, Dassel, Cokato) by a score of 8-1, with Gabe Sherman scoring Marshall’s lone goal.
Marshall PWA then capped off the weekend with a 6-1 victory over River Lakes (Paynesville, Cold Spring, area). Parker Schmitt scored two goals, while Talan Plante, Gabe Sherman, Braxton Meyer and Wyatt Boerboom each scored a goal as well. Lincoln Mellenthin tended the goal for all three games.
Marshall PWA will travel to compete in a tournament this coming weekend at Sauk Centre with the first game on Saturday at 8 a.m. versus Prairie Centre.
