SMSU TRACK AND FIELD: Mustang track & field with several high times and marks in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS – The Southwest Minnesota State University indoor track & field teams put together numerous strong times and marks on Saturday competing at the University of Minnesota Open.

For the SMSU men, Alex Weis had the top Division II throw in the shotput with a toss of 15.18m, while Josh Behning placed seventh at 15.09m.

Ben Ryan put together a personal best 7.06 in the finals of the 60 meters to finish in seventh place and then finished second out of more than 30 runners in the 200 meters with a time of 22.88.

SMSU’s 4×400 relay team of Matt Konrad, Austin LaFollette, Zach Jones and Chris Kveseth had a strong race to finish third with a time of 3:26.67.

On the women’s side, Kayla Jansky ran 1:44.53 in the 600 meters to earn a third place finish.

In the weight throw, Angela Prokosch finished sixth with a toss of 14.07m, while Rhiannon Sears placed eighth at 13.56m.

Rylee Armstrong also had a strong triple jump, placing fifth with a mark of 10.79.

SMSU competes next Friday at the South Dakota State D2 Open in Brookings, S.D.
