FRIDAY PREP ROUNDUP: Canby handles LQPV, 64-54

CANBY – The Canby Lancers improved to 8-5 on Friday by defeating Lac qui Parle Valley 64-54. The Lancers scored 40 first half points to pull away from Lac qui Parle Valley.

Sawyer Hansen and Adam Durfee both scored 19 points to lead the Lancers.

Canby will hit the road Tuesday to take on third ranked Central Minnesota Christian. The Bluejays are 13-1 overall and have won eight straight games.

COTTONWOOD – The Lakeview Lakers snapped a three-game losing streak by defeating Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 67-57 Friday evening.

Darrien Wallin recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Tate Varpness finished with 15 points. Jared Goepferich grabbed a team-leading 15 rebounds.

The Lakers (7-6) will be back home Thursday when they host Tracy-Milroy-Balaton.

Montana Beckmann scored a team-leading 18 points for the Rebels. Riley Schmitz scored 15 points.

The Rebels (2-11) are back in action at home today against Red Rock Central.

TRACY – The Minneota Vikings wrestling team defeated Tracy-Milroy-Balaton-Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Friday, 45-18.

The Vikings had five grapplers win by fall. Isaac Laleman defeated Levi Ellingson by fall in the 113-weight class. Brendan Reiss also won by fall over Tyler Vandendriessche in the 132-weight class. Austin DeVlaeminck was the third Viking to win by fall in the 145-weight class. Trent Esping defeated Sam Bauer in 36 seconds in the 285-weight class. Blake Nelson defeated Austin Bucholz by fall in 50 seconds.

TMBW’s Nash Mayer won by fall over Layne Lozinski in the 160-weight class.
