SMSU Women’s Basketball: Mustangs travel to play lone game of week against USF

MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State University ­women’s basketball team (1-8, 1-4 NSIC) will look to snap a three-game losing skid when it travels to Sioux Falls on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.

•SMSU held Minnesota Duluth to just 22 points in the first half and just six points in the second quarter

•SMSU pulled in a season high 43 rebounds against UMD

•SMSU has now held four opponents to less than 10 points in a quarter this year (William Jewell, Upper Iowa, Winona State, and Minnesota Duluth)

•SMSU shot a season high 50 percent (26-of-52) against St. Cloud State

•The Mustangs also shot a season high 43 percent (6-of-14) on three point attempts

SMSU COACH TOM WEBB

•Tom Webb is in his first season as the head coach with a 1-8 overall record thus far

•Webb is the eighth head coach in the program’s history

• Prior to SMSU, coach Webb spent eight seasons (2008-16) as the head coach at Cameron University (Okla.) compiling a record of 91-123.
