PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall girls top Redwood Falls, 53-22

REDWOOD FALLS — Marshall used a balanced scoring effort to defeat Redwood Valley 53-22 on Tuesday.

Five players registered at least six points in the game, led by Natalie Petrich with 11 points. Kaia Sueker scored nine points while Maddie Marks added eight. Whitney Schwartz and Hannah Meier chipped in with six apiece.

“We had a number of kids who settled down after looking rattled on Friday,” Marshall coach Dan Westby said. “We did a better job of taking care of the ball and limiting turnovers. That’s something we need to focus on.”

Marshall committed just 13 turnovers in the win. Marshall (1-1, 1-0 Big South) hosts Worthington on Thursday.

WABASSO – The Wabasso Rabbits cruised past Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Friday, as they picked up a 65-24 win.

Gina Goblirsch led the team with 20 points while also recording five steals and three assists. Maddy Guetter recorded a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and she also had four steals. Kayla Jenniges marked up four assists, seven rebounds and four points.

The Rabbits (2-1) returns to action on Friday when they travel to face Cedar Mountain/Comfrey.

TRACY – The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panthers used 53 first-half points to defeat the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Knights 65-30 on Tuesday.

For TMB, Evy Dolan led the team with 19 points while Sydney Lanoue had 15 points, Gabbie Gervais had 14 points and Kaylee Kirk had 12 points. Kirk also had six assists while Lanoue had nine rebounds.

RTR’s Tina Haroldson scored a team-high 10 points and also led the team with four steals. Jackie Dressen had four rebounds and four points while Hallie Lingen led the team with four assists.

TMB (3-0) will travel to Redwood Valley on Friday while RTR (2-3) will host Canby on Thursday.

Alex Sather scored 14 points while Avery Bartunek and Kaitlyn Willander each had 13 points. Sydney Bartunek recorded nine rebounds to go along with nine points and two steals. Hannah Stelter also scored nine points.

The Blackjacks (1-2) will travel to face Central Minnesota Christian on Thursday.

Anna McCosh recorded 19 points and 15 rebounds to lead YME.

SLAYTON – The Westbrook-Walnut Grove Chargers defeated the Murray County Central Rebels 75-55 on Tuesday night.

Anthony Ross led the Chargers with 17 points. Parker Freeburg had 13 points while Matt DePrez and Cole Bunting had 10 points each. Bunting also recorded nine rebounds while Andrew Quade had four assists, six rebounds and nine points.

For MCC, Cole Bassett scored 22 points. Tyler Groves led the team with eight rebounds while Nate Everson had six rebounds and nine points.

WWG (3-0) travels to face Red Rock Central while MCC (2-1) will travel to Fulda on Friday.

LUVERNE — Marshall defeated Luverne 1-0 on Tuesday.

It was Marshall’s fourth shutout of the season. Goalie Emma Klenken recorded 15 saves in the win, while Luverne’s goalie was 31-32 on save opportunities.

“Emma had a good night in the net,” Marshall coach Kevin Schroeder said. “Tonight was the third game in a row we’ve gotten a lot of pressure on their end.”

Marshall’s lone goal came in the second period off the stick of Courtney Mauch. She was assisted by her younger sister Sydney Mauch on the play.

Marshall (5-2) hosts New Ulm on Thursday.
