PREP FOOTBALL: 2016 All-Area Honorable Mentions

Jake Hess (Marshall – QB/LB)

Hess recorded 25 tackles as a linebacker this season. His four sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss both finished second on the team, and he also had one forced fumble.

Jamison Hunt (Canby – WR/DB) The wide receiver marked up in 33 catches (tied for fourth in the area) for 321 yards (12th in area) and four touchdowns this season. He also has rushed for 31 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. Defensively, Hunt had 33 tackles and an interception.

Noah Scott (Canby – TE/LB) Scott finished third on the Lancers with 71 tackles as a linebacker this season. He added two sacks and a forced fumble as well. Offensively, Scott had 12 receptions for 161 yards and two touchdowns as a tight end.

Andrew Hansen

(Canby – OL/DL)

The lineman helped make wholes for a Lancer offense that rushed for over 1,600 yards this season. On defense, Hansen recorded 25 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.

Bentley Boike

(Dawson-Boyd – RB/DL)

Boike started the season as a backup running back, but quickly rose up the ranks. The sophomore rushed for 1,010 yards and 11 touchdowns this year, both of which finished sixth in the area. He also caught six passes for 54 yards and a touchdown. He also ended the season with 20 tackles on defense.

Colton Husby

(Dawson-Boyd – RB/DB)

Husby was a key contributor to the Blackjacks as a fullback and linebacker this season. On offense, he rushed 67 times for 289 yards and six touchdowns while catching eight passes for 147 yards and a touchdown. On defense, Husby recorded 59 tackles and two interceptions.

Kailen French

(Lakeview – OL/LB)

French was part of an offensive line that paved the way for over 4,100 yards of total offense in 2016. On defense, he recorded 44 tackles (seven tackles for loss), one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

Darrien Wallin

(Lakeview – WR/DB)

Wallin finished his senior season with 22 receptions for 380 yards (eighth in the area) and six touchdowns (seventh in the area). On defense, he recorded 21 tackles and four interceptions (tied for sixth in the area).

9. Austin DeVlaeminck

(Minneota – WR/DB)

DeVlaeminck caught seven passes for 121 yards and one TD in 2016. He added 33 tackles on defense for a Minneota team that went 9-1 this season.

Thomas Hennen

(Minneota – WR/DB)

Thomas Hennen was second on the Vikings in receiving with 14 catches for 195 yards and two scores. He added 34 tackles and two interceptions on defense, along with one forced fumble.

Brendan Reiss

(Minneota – RB/LB)

Reiss led Minneota in receiving with 23 catches (10th in the area) for 360 yards (10th in the area) and five scores (tied for eighth in the area). He also rushed for 287 yards and two TDs. He recorded 68 tackles on defense.

Kellan Johnson (MCC – RB/DB)

Johnson finished third on MCC in rushing with 623 yards and five scores, adding 11 catches for 152 yards and four TDs in the receiving game. On defense, he finished sixth on the team with 64 tackles, along with two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Jake Fischer (RTR – RB/LB)

Jake Fischer ran for 261 yards and three scores and caught two passes for 86 yards and another touchdown this season on offense. He also finished with 84 tackles (eighth in the area), two sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery for RTR.

Jayden Strand (RTR – WR/DB)

The wide receiver caught five passes for 30 yards and added 139 rushing yards in his senior season. On defense, he recorded 27 tackles. He also returned 10 kicks for 63 yards.

Evan Swanson (RTR – OL/DL) Swanson finished fourth on the team with 61 tackles, including three tackles for loss. He also recorded a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

Jonah Johnson (RTR – TE/DB) Johnson recorded 33 tackles in 2016 for RTR. Offensively, the tight end caught eight passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns.

Cooper Hansen (RTR – QB/DB)

Hansen finished with 461 passing yards and a 5-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He also ran for 229 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, he finished his sophomore season with 12 tackles and an interception.

Dylan VanDam (TMB – OL/DL)

Dylan VanDam was second on the Panthers in tackles with 62 during the season. Eight of his 62 tackles were in the backfield.

Moses Dolan (TMB – WR/DB)

Moses Dolan finished his junior season with 21 receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 250 yards and three scores. Defensively, he added 48 tackles and two interceptions.

Nick Altermatt

(Wabasso – QB/DB)

Altermatt was efficient behind center for the Rabbits, throwing for 870 yards and six touchdowns. His two interceptions thrown were the second-fewest in the area. He also ran for 611 yards, which was most in the area by a quarterback this year.

Myles Zeug (Wabasso – OL/DL) In addition to blocking up front for the Rabbits’ rushing attack, Zeug recorded 64 tackles and 3.5 sacks this season.

Jacob Plaetz (Wabasso – OL/DL)

Plaetz was part of the line blocking for 2,200-yard rushing Mitchell Fulton. On defense, he had 68 tackles and three interceptions this season.

Matt Kleven (WWG – TE/DL)

Matt Kleven led the area with eight sacks during his senior season. He also added 67 tackles and a fumble recovery this year. On offense, he finished with six receptions for 35 yards.

Kyle Kuehl (WWG – WR/LB) Kuehl led the Chargers in tackles in 2016 with 94, which was fourth in the area. He also recovered a pair of fumbles. On offense, he ran for 704 yards and nine rushing touchdowns while catching 33 passes for 243 yards and another score.

Anthony Ross (WWG – QB/DB) Ross led the WWG offense, throwing for 1,464 yards (second in the area) and nine TDs (tied for sixth in the area) as a junior. He also totaled 54 yards and five TDs on the ground.

Miles Kattevold (YME – OL/LB)

Kattevold finished the season second on the Sting with 75 tackles and tied for the team lead with five sacks (tied for third in the area). He also picked off two passes and forced two fumbles.
