PREP GIRLS HOCKEY: Tigers fall to Mankato East

MANKATO The Marshall Tigers girls hockey team opened their season on Saturday as they took on the Mankato East Cougars. The Tigers lost the game 6-2.

Rachel VanKeulen got Marshall on the board in the second period with a goal on an assist by Courtney Mauch, making the score 1-1. Olivia Peterson briefly put the Tigers up 2-1 after a goal on the assist by Mikayla Campion, but Mankato East would score five straight goals to put the game out of reach.

Alexis Moat had 24 saves in the game.

The Tigers have their home opener on Friday as they host Hutchinson at 7 p.m. at Red Baron Arena.
