Browns' Gordon in limbo awaiting NFL ruling

August 22, 2014
Associated Press

CLEVELAND (AP) — Browns star wide receiver Josh Gordon says the only place he can find peace is on the football field. His time there could be running short.

The Pro Bowler is still awaiting word from the NFL on whether he'll be suspended for all or part of the season. Gordon recently appealed a yearlong league suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse program and has been practicing and playing in limbo for weeks.

Browns coach Mike Pettine says the delay has weighed heavily on Gordon, who broke a franchise record with 1,646 yards receiving last season despite being suspended for the first two games.

Losing Gordon for any time would strip Cleveland of its best playmaker and quarterback Brian Hoyer's top target.
