MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Republican Jim Hagedorn has pulled off an upset in his party's 1st District primary for Congress.

Hagedorn beat endorsed candidate Aaron Miller in Tuesday's primary.

Hagedorn is a former federal lobbyist and businessman who also once served as legislative assistant to a former Minnesota congressman. His father also once represented southern Minnesota in Congress.

He'll face Democratic Rep. Tim Walz, who is seeking his fifth term in Congress.

Miller is a health care accounts manager and Army veteran of tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
