TRACY- The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panthers served up a three set victory over Renville County West Tuesday, improving to 2-0 in the 2014 season.
The Panthers used strong offensive play to hold the Jaguars to just 36 points in three sets behind a combined 12 team aces.
"We do have decent servers as far as being able to work it around the court and RCW really struggled with our short serve," TMB head coach Katie Gervais said.
Senior Sammie Gervais earned a team high seven aces with Sara Stoneberg and Anna Peterson contributing three and two, respectively.
The Panthers controlled the tempo of the first set, making quick work of the Jaguars with a 25-7 match victory.
The Jaguars were able rebound in the second set, keeping the contest tied through the 19th point.
"It always takes the first set to get use to the game again and what the other team is running," RCW head coach Amanda Peterson said.
"In the second set we came out there ready to play and they hung right there."
Back-to-back kills from senior outside hitter Kassidy Przymus helped secure 25-21 set victory for the TMB. Przymus finished the night with 10 kills.
"We lost a little focus and disipline in game two," Gervais said. "We had a little discussion in the huddle and we just had to figure some things out. They responded well."
With the momentum back in their favor the Panthers dominated the final set of the match, defeating the Jaguars 25-8.
TMB also had strong offensive performances from Gabbie Gervais who contributed 22 set assists in the win and Kendra Ludeman and Sydney Lanoue who each added five kills.
"I thought our passing was was good overall we just didn't terminate and we had too many net errors," Gervais said.
The Panthers will travel to Worthington Thursday for a non-conference match-up.
