WORTHINGTON - Services for Floyd Henry Buntjer, 84, of Worthington, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Covenant Church, in Worthington. A private family burial of cremains will be at a later date. A time of fellowship will be from 4-7 p.m. today at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.

He died Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center.

Floyd Buntjer

He was born June 27, 1930, in Summit Lake Township, near Rushmore, to Henry and Hattie (Ailts) Buntjer. Floyd attended country schools near Rushmore. As a young boy he moved to Iowa. He worked for Graves Construction building churches and bridges.

Floyd married Clarice Ford Nov. 15, 1953, at the Melvin Methodist Church in Melvin, Iowa. To this union five children were born, Douglas, Kurtis, Dawn, Mark and Monte. The couple worked for Andy Mouw from 1954 to 1958 where they lived on a farm in Bigelow Township. In 1959, they moved to a farm south of Ocheyedan, Iowa. From 1960 to the present they have lived and farmed in Bigelow Township rural Nobles County.

He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing especially with his grandchildren. Floyd also enjoyed partying with friends and helping Doug with his farming operation.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Clarice Buntjer, Worthington; five children, Douglas (and Trudy) Buntjer, Bigelow; Kurtis (and Julie) Buntjer, Pennock; Dawn (and Michael) Buntjer-Tillman, Galloway, N.J.; Mark (and Kim) Buntjer, Long Prairie; and Monte (and Shelley) Buntjer, Marshall; 11 grandchildren, Andrew, Hunter, Chad, Jami (and Jay), Jadon, Katrina, Maria, John Paul, Luke, Briatta and Bailey; brother, Donald (and Lorna) Buntjer, Worthington; and a sister, Helen Loeschen, Sibley, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Samantha Buntjer; and an infant twin brother.
