HOPKINS- Minneota started off its season with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-20) loss to St. Paul North.
Whenever area teams make a trip to the cities, the competition always ramps up.
"We knew it was going to be a very tough matchup," Minneota coach Steph Hennen said. "They have finished second in their section the past two years and are a senior latent team. We came away with a bunch of things to work on."
Taylor Reiss led the hitting game with 16 kills and also record 11 digs and two blocks.
Krista Maeyaert recorded six kills to go with five from Natalie Herigon.
Payton Boerboom finished with two blocks and 10 digs. Amber Engels tallied 11 blocks.
The Vikings connected on 24 of 25 serves and had three total aces.
Minneota will try and rebound as it takes on Murray County Central tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.
Montevideo/D-Boyd finish 7th at
The Montevideo/Dawson-Boyd swim team finished seventh in its opening meet at Willmar Friday, tallying 166 points.
The team of junior Katia Osman, sophomore Nicole Feldhake, sophomore Kyra Fokken and senior Baylee Pauling finished sixth in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 4:10.27.
Senior Baylee Pauling earned a seventh place finish in the 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 27.22.
Senior Alex Hanson also secured a seventh place finish in the One-Meter Diving with a score of 139.65.
Junior Lexi Quigley placed eighth in the 100-yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:20.98.
The 200-yard Medley relay team finished ninth with a time of 2:09.86. That team consisted of junior Meghan Mortensen, junior Lexi Quigley,Pauling and junior Abby Grussing.
