MARSHALL - Services for Elsie M. Stenson, 95, of Marshall, formerly of the Turtle Lake, N. D., area, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Marshall. Inurnment will be in the Turtle Lake Cemetery. Visitation with her family will be one hour prior to the service. The Hamilton Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Elsie Marie Ruck was born Sept. 6, 1918, at home near Underwood, N.D., to John and Mary (Grosz) Ruck. She and her family survived the 1918 flu epidemic. She attended a one room rural school and graduated from Turtle Lake High School and Minot Teachers College.

On Sept. 28, 1941, Elsie was united in marriage to Elmer H. Stenson in Turtle Lake, N.D., where they established their home. She was required to quit her teaching job when they got married. They lived in McVille, N.D., prior to moving to Devils Lake, N.D., in 1949 where they lived and raised their family through the years. In 2006 they moved to Marshall to be closer to family.

Elsie was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, WELCA and taught Sunday school.

Elsie's Loving Family. sons and daughters-in-law: Gary and Rita Stensen, and Mark and Claudia Stenson; daughter and son-in-law: LaNae and Russ Steinhaus; six grandchildren, Kevin Stenson, Craig and Jenn Stenson, Amy and Arlen Carey, Carrie and Greg Doom, Keeley Steinhaus and Brent and Katie Steinhaus; two great-granddaughters, Ainsley Doom and Liliana Carey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer H. Stenson; an infant son and twin daughters; parents, John and Mary Ruck; sisters, Elizabeth Schauer, Emma Gessle and Violet "Vi" Stenson.
