TYLER - Services for Ronald K. Jacobson, 77, of Tyler will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Tyler Area Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Stephens Funeral Service-Tyler Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

He died Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the Colonial Manor in Balaton.

Ronald Keith Jacobson was born Oct. 26, 1936, in Canada to Helmer and Geneva (Baker) Jacobson. He graduated from Watertown, S.D., high school in 1954. Following graduation he entered the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1954-1957 in Korea as a radar operator. He was honorably discharged and returned to Watertown, where he met and then married Bonnie Croisant on June 14, 1959. They moved to Madison, S.D., where he earned his teaching degree. His first teaching job was in Marietta. He then worked as a high school math/computer teacher and golf coach from 1967-1993, when he retired. Ron owned and operated the Lincoln County Drive Inn Movie Theatre and the Tracy Movie Theatre for many years, and served as an EMT with the Tyler Ambulance Service. Ron was a member of the American Motorcycle Association, going to motorcycle rallies. For their 25th wedding anniversary he and Bonnie rode to Las Vegas on his cycle. Golf, woodworking and carpentry were all enjoyed by Ron. He took flying lessons and learned to fly an airplane after he retired.

He is survived by his daughter Lori (and Terry) Wynia of Marshall and son Mark of Stoughton, Wis.; grandchildren Samantha and Joseph Wynia; and one brother Murray Jacobson of Watertown, S.D.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonnie, infant son Jeffrey and sister Nadine Walsh.
