The runs came early and often for the Waconia Wildcats in their game against the Marshall Mudcats in the two team's opening round game of the U.S. Bank Wooden Bat Classic Friday.
The Wildcats rolled to a 16-2 victory.
Jake Stevenson, the Wildcats cleanup hitter, had three doubles and seven RBI as Waconia reached the double digit hit mark before the third inning, helping them use the eight-run rule after five innings. No. 3 hitter Roch Whittaker added to the total with four RBI on a single and a double.

Waconia also got RBI from Dylan Lindner, Blake Pistulka and Cole Peters.
Wacona jumped out to a 2-0 lead in their half of the first before Noah Winkleman drove in Connor Winkleman to cut the score to 2-1.
That is the closest the Mudcats would come.
Their second run came in the fourth when Thomas Fischer hit into a fielder's choice that scored Dylan Criquet Danielson.
By that point, the game had long been decided and Mudcats manager Mitch Maxwell knew there was a very good reason.
"The did a great job of hitting the baseball," Maxwell said. "There's no doubt that they are a great team. Wood bat or not, they can drive the ball. The most important thing that we need to learn from tonight is to make the plays that we need to make. Tomorrow, we need to come out and take control. We need to make plays and take care of ourselves."
Marshall will take on Mitchell, S.D. today at 12:30 followed by their game against Cold Spring in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.
