MARSHALL - Marshall kept their bats going all afternoon as they advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 2A Section 3 Tournament with a five-inning, 12-1 win over New London/ Spicer.
Brad Bahlmann lead the team in RBI for the second game in a row with three while Drew Hmielewski drove in two runs. The Tigers also got RBI from Connor Winkleman, Bryce Johnson, Alex Marks, Riley Sharbono, Mason Campion and Carl Douglas.
"One through nine, all our guys are having good at-bats and that was a good pitcher," Marshall coach Chace Pollock said. "He has a nice arm and our guys did a great job. Our guys saw a lot of pitches and grinded out at-bats."

Marshall baseball coach Chace Pollock gives fistbumps to his team as they come off the diamond after a successful inning during their 8-0 win over Redwood Valley on Saturday. Also pictured are Brad Bahlmann (9) and assistant coach Chris Hmielewski.
Connor Winkleman got the start on the mound for the Tigers, going the full five innings and recording six strikeouts against just two walks. Connor Winkleman allowed just one run on four hits.
Ryan Vraa was the starting pitcher for NLS and Marshall didn't have any trouble with him, knocking in 11 runs (six earned) on 11 hits. Vraa walked one and struck out two in his 2 2/3 innings of work.
Michael Arnold worked the last 1 1/3 and recorded four strikeouts and five walks, but allowed no hits.
NLS coach Mike Thompson would have liked to see the game play out differently.
"We knew coming, in especially with the Winkleman's and Hmielewski that, we really need to be able to execute our pitches and keep them off balance. We didn't execute as well as we needed to. We need to give Marshall a lot of credit. They have a great ball club."
NLS fell to the consolation bracket, where it will play Benson at 5 p.m. today at Montevideo.
