MARSHALL - The Tigers used pitching and defense to edge Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 2-0 in a non- conference decision Tuesday at the Marshall Softball Complex.
Marshall junior Callie Graff went the distance and recorded five strikeouts and four walks in the victory and allowed just two hits.
"The defense and pitching were solid today," Marshall coach Jack Houseman said. "We have to start doing a better job of producing with runners in scoring position. We didn't do a very good job of that (Tuesday). We're going to work on that in practice and hope to get the bats going."

Marshall’s Callie Graff reacts after throwing a pitch against Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in a non-conference game Tuesday at the Marshall Softball Complex.
The Tigers were helped, offensively, by three TMB errors as Graff, Sadie Zahrbock and Tori Arzfdorf came up with the MHS hits on the day, all singles. Ashley Bernardy and Emily Mortier came across the plate to score for Marshall.
Evelyn Dolan and Raelin Radke had the two TMB hits, both singles as Graff was able to keep the Panthers at bay.
TMB had its chance to extend the game in the top of the seventh as they moved runners to second and third with two outs.
Graff threw a wild pitch that got over the head of catcher Zahrbock, who was able to recover in time and get the runner out at the plate.
TMB coach Paul Skoglund knew his team played well enough to win, but missed some opportunities.
"We played some good defense, but we got in some trouble in the fifth inning," Skoglund said. "We had people on second and third plenty of times, but were still searching for that important hit."
Marshall improved to 7-3 while TMB fell to 4-9.
