Firefighters from six departments spent part of their Easter Sunday afternoon fighting a grass fire about 7 miles north and 2 miles west of Marshall in Vallers Township. The fire, a result of a controlled CRP burn, according to law enforcement, started getting out of control Sunday afternoon and assistance was called for about 3:30 p.m. Fire departments from Clarkfield, Ghent, Hanley Falls, Marshall and Minneota assisted the Cottonwood Fire Department.
