MANKATO - The Marshall boys and girls track team competed at the Mankato West Indoor Invitational Monday night and came away with a pair of third-place finish among three teams.
Shakopee won the boys meet by scoring 58 points. Mankato West was the runner up with 54 points, while Marshall scored 43 points. The results were similar in the girls meet as Shakopee had 59 points, followed by Mankato West (54) and Marshall (43).
In the boys competition, the Tigers won the 1,600-meter relay with the team of Andrew Bell, Max Larson, Wade DeAustin and Zach Drum in 3:50.16. Sam Marshall captured the 200 dash in 25.62 seconds and Bell claimed the 1600 run in 4:55.01.
Second-place finishers included Drew Tykwinski in the pole vault, clearing 10-feet; Ryan Schultz in the high jump (5-6); and the 1,600 relay team of Schultz, Brandon Derkinderen, Brian Rose and Tykwinski with a time of 3:56.25.
In the girls competition, the Tigers won the 800 run with Sydney Blomme in 2:45.99, while Nichole Sample was first in the 1,600 run in 5:32.48 ahead of teammates Jackie Turner (5:34.10) and Claire Boersma (5:43.07). Marshall also was first in the 3,200 relay in 10:13.12 with the team of Sample, Jackie Turner, Jenna Christianson and Claire Boersma.
Sydney Griffin won the triple jump with a distance of 34-4.
Second-place efforts came from Griffin (long jump, 15-2), Rachel Miller (pole vault, 7-6) and Sophia Buysse (triple jump, 30-4).
