WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The widow of a Mendota Heights police officer who was shot to death during a traffic stop says he would have appreciated the support his family has received.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports (http://bit.ly/1rXPI3c ) that Michelle Patrick recalled Friday night that her husband, Scott Patrick, could "make $10 feel like a hundred" and liked to drive fast.

She spoke to about 100 people gathered at the place where her husband was killed Wednesday in West St. Paul.

Speaking through tears, she told the crowd that the public's support gave her family hope that one day they will "climb out of this deep grief" they feel.

The Patricks were married for 26 years. They have two daughters.
