Gordon was born Sept. 26, 1932, to Arnold and Vina (Paradis) Sanders in Ghent. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1950. Shortly after, he served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War stationed overseas aboard the USS Libra. On July 9, 1955, he was united in marriage to Eldora (Myrt) Westphal at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Gordon was employed by the JC Penny Company as a store manager spending most of his career in Iowa Falls, Iowa, and West Bend, Wis. He was an active member of his church serving as a lector and usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. Gordon was civic minded and served on the city council and was a member of Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce.

Gordon loved his family more than anything. He will be remembered for his keen sense of humor and his ability to tell a good joke. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed being outdoors spending time in the boat fishing with family and friends or on a quest for pheasants and other wild game. Before his illness, he enjoyed playing tennis, golf, biking, cross country skiing, photography and playing cards. He especially enjoyed watching his children (and later grandchildren) participate in sports.

Blessed to have called him "Dad and Grandpa" are Michael (and Cindy) Sanders and grandchildren Kelly, Luke and Christian of Marshall; Carol (and David) Hall and grandchildren Jim, Bob and Katie of Appleton, Wis.; Greg (and Amy) Sanders and grandchildren Emily, Matthew and Nicholas of Lakeville. Siblings include Joan (and Forrest) Wild of Tucson, Ariz.; Betty Armstrong of Prescott, Wis.; Norman Sanders of Port Orchard, Wash.; Tom (and Linda) Sanders of Marshall; and Donna (and Richard) Buysse of Minneota; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and loving wife of 54 years, Eldora; brother-in-law, Curt Armstrong and sister-in-law, Theresa Sanders.

A very special thank you to his loving and attentive caregivers at WBR who were so special to him.
