February 24, 2014
Marshall Independent

MARSHALL - Marshall rolled to a 73-50 win over Benilde- St. Margaret's Saturday to improve to 24-1 overall. Sarah Buysee finished as the leading scorer with 18 points, doing most of her work at the free throw line, where she made nine of her 10 shot attempts. Morgan Saugstad finished the game with 10 points while Kenzie Beekman also had 10 and Callie Graff put in nine points.

Marshall coach Dan Westby was pleased to see how his team worked when defending the basket.

"I was proud that we defended as hard as we did," Westby said. "We've played really hard on defense two nights in a row now. We also shot really well and were able to do some things in the half court."

Gretchen Sattler finished as the leading scorer with 13 points for BSM to go with eight each from Azzairia Jackson-Sherrod and Allie Coughlin.

The Tigers head to Mankato West on Tuesday and know they will have a tough task at hand.

"They are a team that relies heavily on their point guard," Westby said. "She provides most of their scoring, so we will have to account for that. It's important that we keep moving in the right direction as we head into the playoffs."
