BOYS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Murray County Central advances, Wabasso eliminated

February 24, 2014
Marshall Independent

WORTHINGTON - Murray County Central was able to sneak past Westbrook-Walnut Grove in quarterfinals of the Class A Section 3 South Division Tournament, winning 69-64.

"We did a real nice job defensively," MCC coach Tim Bobeldyk said. "We were able to contain Randy Knutson just enough. They made a run at us late, but we were able to make some free throws at the end and counter just enough."

Grant Rohrer finished as the Rebels leading scorer with 24 points while Grant Everson finished with 22.

Everson and Seth Bass had good games from behind the arc, each going 2-3 and the Rebels finished 5-10 from behind the arc as a team.

Shane Buchman finished with a game-high 29 points while Knutson added 15. WWG had just four other players score a combined 21 points.

MCC will paly No. 1 seed Southwest Minnesota Christian on Tuesday at Worthington.
