Lidstrom named to honors list

Daniel Lidstrom, the son of Bruce and Connie Lidstrom of Marshall, has gained honors recognition during the 2013 spring semester of study at Southwest Minnesota State University.

Students with a 3.8-4.0 (A) average are listed with high honors, while those with a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.79 gained honors recognition.

Williams receives scholarship

Southwest Minnesota State University announces that Christopher Williams, the son of Keri Maki of Coon Rapids, has been selected to receive a F.J. McLaughlin Family Memorial Scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year. Recipients of this scholarship are recognized for their academic accomplishments and outstanding leadership abilities.

His planned major field of study is business management.

VanOverbeke named to high honors list

Robin VanOverbeke of Marshall has gained high honors recognition during the 2013 fall semester of study at Southwest Minnesota State University.

Students with a 3.8-4.0 (A) average are listed with high honors, while those with a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.79 gained honors recognition.

Kim vice president of National Broadcasting Society

Yujin Kim, a junior speech communication radio and TV major from Marshall, is the vice president of the National Broadcasting Society at Southwest Minnesota State University for the 2013-2014 academic year.

The organization is established to encourage and reward scholarship and accomplishment among students interested in broadcasting and to establish meaningful communication and interaction between students and professional broadcasters. Any student may join this organization, but to be a member for the National organization, there is a GPA broadcasting course requirement.

Fischer president of Mustang Maniacs Club

Craig Fischer, a junior elementary education major from Ghent, is the president of the Mustang Maniacs Club at Southwest Minnesota State University for the 2013-2014 academic year.

The Mustang Maniacs is a student spirit group/booster club to lend support to Mustang Athletics at SMSU.

Biastock secretary of Oyate Club at SMSU

Anna Biastock, a junior history major from Marshall, is the secretary of the Oyate Club at Southwest Minnesota State University for the 2013-2014 academic year.

The purpose of this organization is to facilitate the goals of a group of individuals that share similar interests with all things American Indian.
