PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Vikings escape with win over Russell-Tyler-Ruthton

MINNEOTA - After holding a 52-33 halftime lead, Minneota/ Lincoln HI escaped with an 81-78 win over Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in a Camden Conference matchup Friday in Minneota.

Matthew Knutson hit two free throws to put the Vikings up three points with 10 seconds remaining in the contest. The team collected its sixth conference victory after the Knights missed a three-point shot at the buzzer.

While RTR won the rebounding battle, grabbing 42 boards to the Vikings' 30, Minneota-Lincoln HI outshot the Knights at the free-throw line, going 21-for-29 behind a strong effort from Daniel Harrison who went 10-for-10 at the line, finishing with 24 points and eight rebounds. Tolk led the Vikings with 26 points, five assists and three steals. Nathan Pavek added six boards, while Austin Buysee dropped in seven points to go with five assists. Knutson finished the night with six points.

RTR went 20-for-34 at the free-throw line, including a 13-for-17 performance from Brett Peterson, who had a solid, all-around effort in the loss for the Knights. Peterson nearly recorded a triple-double, with 40 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and one blocked shot. Brett Vercruysse tallied 21 points, while Brett Knudsen had nine points and two steals. Isaiah DeRuyter added six points and 10 rebounds.

Dawson-Boyd 57, CMCS 54

PRINSBURG - After trailing 24-21 at the half, Dawson-Boyd rallied to outscore Central Minnesota Christian School in the second half 36-30, earning a 57-54 Camden Conference victory Friday in Prinsburg.

With the win, the Blackjacks move to 16-0 overall and 13-0 in conference play. Joey Lee paced Dawson-Boyd with 21 points, while Michael Lee posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Taylor Slagter led the Bluejays with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Austin Bulthuis added 14 points and six boards.

CANBY - Zach Nuy led the Lancers with 16 points to go with 14 fom Michael Slaba and 10 from Johansen in a 77-47 win for Canby over Lakeview Friday night.

Max Horner was the leading scorer for Lakeview with 18 points while Jonah Dovre added 10 points.

WABASSO - Sleepy Eye Saint Mary's overcame a 41-39 halftime deficit to earn a 78-63 Tomahawk Conference win over Wabasso Friday in Wabasso.

The Knights had four players score in double-digits, with Payton Adams (17), Mike Hirsch (15), John Brandl (15) and Jared Rothmeier (14).

Neil Eichten had a solid night, collecting 35 points, five assists and two steals for the Rabbits. Tanner Bock also had a big night, recording a 16-point, 22-rebound double-double. Beau Taylor chipped in six points and five assists, while Christian Netzke added a team-high six assists, five rebounds and two steals.

SLEEPY EYE - Class 1A No. 10-ranked Wabasso improved to 16-0 overall and 11-0 in Tomahawk Conference action with a 67-30 routing of Sleepy Eye Saint Mary's Friday in Sleepy Eye.

Chelsey Guetter paced the Rabbits with 26 points and nine boards, while Larissa Rohlik added 15. Karlee Eichten had eight points to go with 10 rebounds. Rohlik also contributed four assists, while Erin Liebl and Eichten had three apiece. Guetter, Rohlik and Morgan Frank each chipped in three steals.

The Knights dropped to 7-10 overall and 4-7 in the Tomahawk.
