PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Canby girls rout Dawson-Boyd, boys defeat SWU

CANBY - Morgan Merritt led Canby to a 66-50 Camden Conference crossover victory against Dawson-Boyd on Tuesday.

Merritt produced game-highs in points (26), assists (nine) and steals (four) as the Lancers improved to 9-3 overall and 5-2 in the Camden South. Ricki Kallhoff added 12 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots for Canby, which received 12 points from Natalie Dinius.

Justine Lee topped Dawson-Boyd (6-2, 5-2 Camden North) with 20 points, four assists, three steals and a blocked shot. Kelly Husby chipped in 13 rebounds and nine points for the Blackjacks.

OKABENA - Michael Slaba led four Canby players in double figures by scoring 20 points as the Lancers won a non-conference game 60-55 at Southwestern United on Tuesday.

Canby improved to 10-2 overall as Josh Gallegos had 14 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots; Zach Nuy posted a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds; and Kristian Leppke drained a pair of 3-point shots en route to 10 points.

Slaba and McKinley Johansen each recorded seven assists for the Lancers, who had 17 assists on 27 field goals.

Aaron Fest (14 points) and Trey Cranston (12 points) topped Southwestern United.
