The Panthers opened the second half with a 22-6 run to trim their deficit to 52-51 with about nine minutes left before the Thunder Hawks made their final push.

"It was a game of runs," TMB head coach Rick Haberman said. "Montevideo dominated the last nine minutes of both halves. We were able to respond in the first half of the second half to make it a one-point game."

Haberman credited his players with fighting back under difficult circumstances.

"We just had too much of a hole to climb out of," Haberman said. "It was nice to see our players able to keep Montevideo off-balance in the second half to get us back into the game."

Montevideo accurately shot 53 percent (26 of 49) overall and 45 percent (9 of 20) from 3-point territory. Tracy-Milroy-Balaton shot 43 percent (22 of 51) from the floor and 41 percent from behind the 3-point arc.

Jordan Thompson made six 3-point field goals on 13 attempts en route to scoring 18 points as Montevideo became 6-2 this season. Dazhown Coleman added 12 points while shooting 5 of 12 from the floor, while Troy Diggins (nine points, 11 rebounds) and Jimmy Haff (nine points) also helped the Thunder Hawks.

Josh Kirk had 21 points and three steals as Tracy-Milroy-Balaton fell to 4-4 this season. Spencer Smith added 12 points, six rebounds, four steals and a blocked shot for the Panthers, who also received 12 points and six rebounds from Brady Lanoue before he fouled out.

The round-robin tournament continues today at Marshall High School with the Panthers playing Mankato East at 6 p.m. and Montevideo meeting Marshall at 7:30 p.m.

The Tigers routed the Cougars 62-38 in the Fastbreak Club Holiday Tournament's second game Thursday.
