BOYS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Dawson-Boyd demolishes Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg

KERKHOVEN - The Dawson-Boyd boys basketball team opened its season with an 86-15 win over Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg in Kerkhoven on Friday in Camden Conference action.

The Blackjacks built a 64-6 lead in the first half on their way to victory.

Stats were unavailable after Friday's game.

WWG 79, Edgerton 57

WESTBROOK -The Westbrook-Walnut Grove boys basketball team moved to .500 in the Red Rock Conference on Friday with a 79-57 win over Edgerton in Westbrook.

Alex Knutson led all scorers with 26 points. He also had five assists. Shane Buchman tallied a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double to go with five steals while Walker Christians added 14 points in the win.

The Falcons are in action next Friday when they face Minneota/Lincoln HI in the Candy Cane Classic in Ivanhoe.

Thomas Blomgren led the Falcons with 13 points. Austin Price pitched in 11 in the loss.

Red Rock Central (0-5, 0-4 Red Rock) will travel to Fulda on Tuesday for another conference game.

Grant Rohrer recored a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double in the loss while Grant Everson added 13 points and Logan Kluis scored 11 more.

The Rebels will play host to Worthington on Tuesday in a non-conference match-up.

GRANITE FALLS -Despite holding a 30-26 halftime lead, the Yellow Medicine East boys basketball team was unable to pick up its first win of the season, falling 67-61 to West Central South Conference foe BOLD Friday night in Granite Falls.

Logan DeBlieck led the Sting with 20 points and three steals, while Blake Lindstrom chipped in 12 points and Grant Lalim 10. Tyson Velde hauled down a team-high nine rebounds.

The Warriors had four players reach double-digit scoring, with Nick Kubesh (17), Tyler Lothert (15), Trent Athman 15) and Austin Weis (12).

YME is back in action on the road Thursday against Paynesville Area.
