PREP WRESTLING: Marshall drops pair of duals

MARSHALL - Plagued by a short roster, the Marshall wrestling team struggled to secure a win in its home triangular against New Ulm and Quad County on Tuesday.

In its opening match the Tigers took on New Ulm. MHS had a strong showing through the first seven weight classes, but was forced to give-up 24 points in forfeits to fall 50-21 in the dual.

Toby Semler inspired the Tiger's early lead with a 32 second pin over Ryan Wacker at 113 to get Marshall on the board. Nick Erbes followed suit at 126 racking-up two take downs and five near fall points before pinning Taylor Bode at 1:50.

Brett Brenczinski continued the trend, with a 1:40 victory by fall over Austin Iles. At 138, Matt Facile used utilized a reversal in the third period to seal a 6-2 win over Jagger Hoffman pushing the Tigers to a 21-9 advantage.

The Eagles managed to even the score with forfeit victories at 145, 152 and 160.

The Tigers failed to earn any further points from the Eagles with two additional forfeits and match wins at 170 and 182.

Marshall faced a similar fate in its second match against Quad County, losing 58-12.

The opening match went to Jake Roiger who defeated Dylan Dulas 6-2. Semler picked-up his second win of the day in a 9-1 major over Jordan Odegard. After a forfeit at 120, Erbes earned a 15-0 tech fall victory against Mile Kattevold.

Quad County's Colten Specht used a last minute reversal to secure a 13-3 major decision over Brenczinski giving the Sting its first lead of the match at 13-9. Quad County held Marshall scoreless through the rest of the match with wins from Cole Hutch at 138, Wyatt Hutch at 170 and a pin from Hayden Johnson at 182. The Tigers also forfeited seven matches total in the dual.

Canby 61, Redwood Valley 12

CANBY - The Canby Lancers dominated Redwood Valley 61-12 in a non-conference dual by winning 12 of 14 bouts Tuesday.

Five Canby wrestlers - Payton Viessman (106 pounds), Quentin Beiningen (132), Billy Deslauriers (152), Travis Dinius (160) and Adam Evenson (220) - won all of their matches with pins.

At 126, Noah Scott used a major decision to secure a victory for the Lancers. Jack Citrowske (145), Michael Peterson (170) and Cole Regnier (182) each won with a decision. Wyatt Johansen (113), Konnor King (120) and Christian Full (195) claimed forfeited victories.

The Cardinals took two weight classes win pins, including Jordan Mann's win at 138 and Logan Zaske's victory at 285.
