WADENA - Ashley Helseth scored a goal in overtime to send Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek to a 3-2 victory against Marshall on Saturday.
Helseth was assisted by Morgan Zeise and McKenzie Christianson with 4 minutes, 28 seconds left in extra time.
The Tigers' losing streak has now reached three games after playing at a .500 level during their first seven contests. Marshall is 3-6-1 overall.
The Blue Devils took a 1-0 lead with 7:33 left in the first period, when Christianson buried a pass from Helseth past Tigers goalie Sierra Wagner.
Marshall tied the score at 1-1 a little more than two minutes later as Teegan Wyffels produced a goal on a pass from Lizzie Archbold at the 5:19 mark.
After a scoreless second period, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek went ahead 2-1 on a goal from Kathryn Benney with 11:40 left in regulation. She was assisted by Zara Einerwold and Abigail Ecker.
But the Tigers rallied behind Hannah Peterson, who tied the game at 2-2 just 1:44 later. Archbold provided her second assist of the game with 9:56 left in regulation.
Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek outshot Marshall 44-25, including a 6-4 edge in overtime. The Blue Devils held a 19-13 edge in shots from the third period and in extra time.
All three penalties in the game were whistled against the Tigers, who forced Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek to go 0-for-3 on its power play.
Wagner made 41 saves in goal for MHS.
Marshall hosts Windom Area in a Southwest Conference game Tuesday at Lockwood Motors Ice Arena.
