MARSHALL - The Marshall girls basketball team opened a two-game home stand with a 57-44 win over Dassel-Cokato on Saturday night.

The Tigers had four players in double digits, taking care of the Chargers press.

"We did a nice job of pushing the ball against their pressure," said Marshall head coach Dan Westby. "There were times we struggled and that's something we'll have to work on."

Marshall’s Callie Graff attempts a layup against Dassel-Cokato as the Tigers played their first home game this season Saturday at Marshall High School. She finished with nine points.

Sarah Buysse (16), Morgan Saugstad (11), Kenzie Beekman (10) and Hannah Bennet (10) were all in double figures. Callie Graff was right behind them with 9.

"We were able to penetrate and find some kids on the perimeter and hit some shots," Westby said. "That got us going early. We had four players in double figures. I thought we did pretty well spreading the ball around and we were unselfish with the ball."

The Tigers held Dassel-Cokato to just 20 points in the first half and allowed only one player to reach double figures.

"Defensively we thought we played well in the post," said Westby. "We limited them to 20 first-half points."

The Tigers host Redwood Valley in a Southwest Conference game on Tuesday before traveling to Worthington for another league contest on Thursday.

"We have a couple tough games this week. We have Redwood Valley at home on Tuesday and we go down to Worthington on Thursday," Westby said. "We have eight games against section opponents and it will be good to get Worthington this week."
