WINDOM - The Marshall boys broke into the win column in a big way on Tuesday, holding Windom Area to 17-percent shooting while shooting 51 percent.

The Tigers started the final Southwest Conference season with a 63-27 win over the Eagles.

"This victory started with us sharing the basketball," Marshall head coach Travis Carroll said. "We also did a good job of attacking the rim and finding open teammates."

MHS finished with 14 assists, led by Carl Douglas, who had four assists. Windom Area created one assist.

"As a coaching staff, we were happy to see the way our players responded after a tough (66-46) loss to Austin on Saturday at the Anoka-Ramsey Showcase," Carroll said. "We brought a good energy level right away in the game by being ready to play and we maintained our energy throughout the game."

Carroll said the Tigers were able separate themselves from the Eagles.

"It was back-and-forth and the beginning, but we made a run midway through the second half to take control," Carroll said.

Riley Sharbono led Marshall (1-2, 1-0 SWC) with 15 points. He also pulled down nine rebounds while grabbing two steals and blocking a shot.

Carl Douglas was close behind with 12 points to go with nine rebounds. Noah Winkelman finished the night with eight points.

The Tigers shot over 50 percent from both the floor (50.9-percent) and the free throw line (57.1-percent). Windom Area struggled from the floor, but was over 61-percent from the charity stripe.

Marshall will hit the road again next Tuesday when they travel to Redwood Falls to face Redwood Valley.
