'Growing Together'

Eight area students were selected as winners of this year’s United Way of Southwest Minnesota-Marshall Independent Essay Contest. The winning students, who are in the third through sixth grade, were recognized in a ceremony Monday at the Marshall-Lyon County Library. Above: Pictured, front, from left: Taylor Miller (Holy Redeemer), Tianna Karsten (Holy Redeemer) and Katrina Sahlstrom (Arrow Academy). Back, from left: Kestlyn Willert (Marshall Middle School), Abby Theisen (St. Peter’s School), Bailey Kindopp (St. Peter’s School), Giavanna Christian (Marshall Middle School) and Brianna Gile (RTR Elementary). Right: Miller and the other girls read their essays aloud Monday; this year’s theme was “Growing Together.” Bank of the West, Wells Fargo Bank, Bremer Bank and First Independent Bank donated prizes for the winners.
