Area Veterans Day events

A number of area communities will be celebrating Veterans Day on Monday. Below is a list of community programs in the area.

Marshall - A Veterans Day program will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Adult Community Center. Lunch will be served at the Legion Club following the program. A program will also be at 10:50 a.m. Monday at Marshall East Campus Learning Alternatives. The program will include a presentation on the history of Veterans Day and a Q&A with a veteran and his family.

Canby - A Veterans Day program will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Canby High School gymnasium. The program will feature Canby students' essays for the VFW Patriots Pen essay contest and the Voice of Democracy essay contest, as well as musical selections performed by students.

Cottonwood - A Veterans Day program will be at 9 a.m. Monday in the Lakeview School gymnasium. The program will include relections from a veteran who is a member of the Lakeview community, and the Lakeview concert band, concert choir and elementary choir will perform patriotic music.

Hendricks - A Veterans Day program will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Hendricks Public School gymnasium. Scott Pearson will be the keynote speaker, and Hendricks students will also be presenting a play for the occasion.

Lake Benton - A Veterans Day program will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Lake Benton Elementary School gymnasium.

Lynd - A Veterans Day program will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Lynd Public School gymnasium.

Milroy - A Veterans Day program will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Milroy School gymnasium. The program will include guest speakers, and music performed by students.

Minneota - A Veterans Day program will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Public School auditorium. Royal Hettling will give the keynote address. Minneota students will also speak and perform patriotic musical selections.

Redwood Falls - A Veterans Day program will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Redwood Valley High School gymnasium. Molly Black will be the keynote speaker. RVHS students will perform musical selections, and there will be a presentation by the Dakota Drum Group.

Russell - A Veterans Day program will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the RTR Middle School gymnasium. Bill Schaefer will be the keynote speaker.

Ruthton - A Veterans Day program will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at RTR Elementary School. Bill Schaefer will be the keynote speaker.

Tracy - A Veterans Day program will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Tracy Area High School. SGM Randy Krueger of Tracy will give the keynote address. The program will also honor several area veterans, and the TAHS band and choir will perform.

Tyler - A Veterans Day program will be at 2:15 p.m. Monday at RTR High School. George Jorgensen and local Girls State attendees will speak at the program. A dinner and program at the Tyler American Legion Hall will be held at 7 p.m.

Wabasso - A Veterans Day program will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Wabasso Public School gymnasium. Steve Collins will be the keynote speaker.

Walnut Grove - A Veterans Day program will be at 2 p.m. at the Walnut Grove School gymnasium. Jeanette Mertens will be the keynote speaker, and Walnut Grove students will perform musical selections.
