MARSHALL - The Southwest Minnesota State University women's basketball team began the 2013-14 season with a 72-53 victory over St. Catherine University (Minn.) in exhibition play on Monday at the R/A Facility.
The Mustangs forced the Wildcats into committing 27 turnovers in the game while recording 13 steals.
Sophomore point guard Annessa Rosch led the Mustangs with a game-high 14 points on 5 of 11 shooting from the field. Also recording double-digits in the game were Rebekah Rolling (13), Hope Bonlander (11) and Hannah Beeler (11). SMSU finished the game shooting 26 of 60 (43.3%) from the floor.
SMSU limited SCU to 17 of 48 shooting (35.4%), including 0 of 5 from behind the arc.
SMSU corralled 40 rebounds in total -- 15 coming on the offensive end. Beeler grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.
SMSU will begin the 2013-14 regular season on Nov. 11 at home versus Crown College. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the R/A Facility.
