PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: RTR sweeps Edgerton behind Wichern, Schaefer, Possail

TYLER - Russell-Tyler-Ruthton added one final win to its regular season record with a sweep of Edgerton Tuesday.

The Knights won the non-conference matchup 25-7, 25-14, 25-15 to improve to 20-8 overall and 9-2 in Camden Conference action.

Courtney Mensen went 11-for-13 with two aces from the serving line, while Illana Peters was 2-for-3 with an ace. Janel Wichern pounded down 12 kills, while Dana Schaefer added seven. Anna Madsen led the defensive effort with nine digs, while Justine Possail contributed five digs, four kills, one ace block and three ace serves. Destinee Strand had 21 set assists and an ace block.

RTR begins Section 3A-North competition on Oct. 25 in Montevideo, taking on the winner of the MACCRAY/ Lincoln HI match.

CANBY - Brooke Bauman hammered down 20 kills and recorded 21 digs to lead the Canby Lancers to a 3-1 non-conference victory over Sisseton, S.D., Tuesday.

Rachel Jessen had a team-high 31 digs for the Lancers, while Tara Kockelman added 19. Abbi Denekamp and Abbey Pederson contributed 25 and 19 set assists respectively, while Laurie Hopp tallied nine kills and Hayley Varcoe six. Alayna Pederson chipped in with four ace blocks. From the serving line, Kockelman led the team, going 18-for-19 with five aces. Abbey Pederson went 20-for-21 with three aces, while Jessen was 18-for-19 with three aces.

Canby (8-20, 4-7 Camden) will begin Section 3A-North playoffs on Monday against Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.

IVANHOE - Ortonville outlasted Lincoln HI 26-24, 25-15, 18-25, 23-25, 15-10 in a non-conference match Tuesday.

Trailing two sets to none, the Rebels rallied to win Sets 3 and 4 to force a deciding fifth set.

Morgan Citterman served five aces, had 18 digs, set up 20 assists and produced two blocks for Lincoln HI. Alyssa Otto led the Rebels with 24 digs and 25 assists. Brandi Barke added 12 kills.
