The No. 18 SMSU women's soccer team (8-0, 5-0 NSIC) did not move in the national rankings this week after going 2-0 last weekend. The Mustangs beat St. Cloud State and Minnesota-Duluth to cap off an undefeated five-game homestand.

This weekend the Mustangs hit the road heading north for games versus Bemidji State on Saturday and Minnesota Crookston on Sunday. The Mustangs are currently tied for first place in the NSIC with Augustana and Minnesota State all with a 5-0 records.

Congratulations to soccer player Danica Requejo who was named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week for her performance this past weekend.

Trivia Contest

No one provided the correct answer to last week's Mustang Hoofprint's trivia question: What SMSU Volleyball player holds the record for career service aces?

The answer is Mary Alice Studer (1993-96) had 252 career service aces as a Mustang.

NOTE: Chris Hmielewski is the athletics director at Southwest Minnesota State University. His column 'Mustang Hoofprints' appears in The Marshall Independent each week throughout the school year.
