NEW ULM - The Marshall volleyball team had an efficient night in New Ulm Tuesday, sweeping the Eagles 25-10, 25-9, 25-6 in the section matchup.
"One of the things we wanted to focus on was taking care of the ball on our side of the net," said Marshall head coach Dan Westby. "I thought we did a pretty good job of that."
The Tigers (15-3) had solid nights at the service line and the net, recording a low two and five errors respectively.
"We were really efficient hitting the ball tonight," Westby said. "As a team we only have five hitting errors."
Rachel Sanow was a perfect 14-for-14 with two aces while Callie Graff was 10-for-10. Sydney Griffin was 9-of-10 with three aces.
"Coming out and being efficient like that, it gives all of our kids a little more confidence," said Westby. "We only had two service errors. Serving has been something that has set the tone throughout the year."
At the net, Kenzie Beekman led the way with 17 kills, missing only two swings out of her 28 attempts. Griffin added 11 more kills while Graff recorded 5.
"That's a pretty good job of taking care of the ball," Westby said.
Hannah Bennett had 25 digs while Sanow and Griffin and 19 and 15 set assist respectively.
The Tigers will be on the road again Thursday when they travel to Worthington to take on the Trojans in Southwest Conference play.
"This is a big week for us," said Westby. We have two section opponents and we have to play well within our section.
"Going to Lakeville this weekend, it's extremely important that we put together five good matches there.
