MARSHALL, Minn., GARDEN GROVE, Calif. - Gordon Frank Lemburg, son of George and Alma (Liedke) Lemburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, in Garden Grove, Calif.

The George Lemburgs were early residents of Marshall, where both their sons, Marvin and Gordon, were born and raised. After his mother's early death, Gordon went to live in Lynd with his Uncle Frank and Aunt Ada (Pearcy) Lemburg. Gordon graduated from Lynd High School in 1942 and has attended class reunions there through the years and kept in touch with fellow classmates. He joined the U.S. Army after high school and served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Pacific Theater which included Australia, the Philippines and Japan where they disposed of war material. He returned to the States in 1946 and attended college in California. In 1948 he married Faith Conaway and three sons were born to this union: Michael, Mark and David. After a divorce, he kept a good relationship with his sons by taking them to many parks, beaches and mountains around Southern California. He was a good father and very proud of his sons. His work was in Traffic and Transportation and he retired from AMF Voit Company in 1982 where he was a dispatcher. Voit was known as a sporting goods company and bowling equipment was a major product. Gordon joined the Voit employees' bowling league, where he was an excellent bowler. He met Clarice Deal on his bowling team and they dated several years before they were married in 1977. They both continued bowling for many years and he finally retired from bowling in his mid-80s. His last team was with his son in law, Jim Tollefson and grandson, Jared Tollefson and the team name was "All in the Family." Gordon and Clarice have traveled the world during their married life, especially enjoying trips to Germany where they visited cousin Myrl and Roberta Lemburg and their daughters when they were stationed there in the military. Gordon had a good life. He had congestive heart failure in recent years with all those complications and he died peacefully.
