Sting slips past MACCRAY

Yellow Medicine East used two wins in singles and two more from doubles action to stop a three-match skid and beat MACCRAY 4-3 Thursday in Clara City.

Jordan Glad dispatched of Jenn Mersbergen 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 2 singles match for YME, while Anne Clarke rolled past Brianna Harguth 6-1, 6-1.

Jordan Trotter and Britanna Raddatz emerged victorious after three sets, knocking down MACCRAY No. 1 tandem Annie Sandry and Kaylee Christenson 5-7, 7-5, 6-2. Steph Bartels and Nikki Musselman also survived a three-set match in No. 3 doubles action, beating Haylee Sandry and Emily Wood 0-6, 6-0, 7-5.

Yellow Medicine East dropped a pair of matches as part of a triangular hosted by Sauk Centre on Wednesday.

The Sting picked up a win in singles and doubles matches but were defeated by their hosts 5-2, while a lone doubles win kept YME from being swept by Park Rapids in a 6-1 loss.

Eighth-grader Anne Clarke had the only singles win of the day for YME, topping Sauk Centre's Faith Henry 6-4, 6-4.

In doubles action, No. 1 YME duo Jordan Trotter and Britanna Raddatz made quick work of the Mainstreeter's top pairing of Jessica Rudenbiker and Molly Meyer 6-4, 6-3.

YME's No. 2 doubles team of Mariah Norell and Steph Bartels provided the only match victory against Park Rapids for the Sting, edging Ali Walsh and Morgan Knott in three sets 6-4, 1-6, 10-4.

YME (2-3 overall) is back in action today at St. James Area for a match against the Saints.

River Valley 5, Marshall 2

Marshall received victories from its No. 1 singles player and its No. 1 doubles team during a 5-2 dual loss to River Valley on Thursday.

The Tigers' Jenna Gannott outlasted Kalyn Haas, winning the first set 6-4, losing the second set 3-6 before she took the third set 6-3.

Marshall's Brittany Soupir and Rachel Landmark teamed for a victory at No. 1 doubles. They turned back Erica Rips and Alyssa Rubey in straight sets 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).
