Round 3 of the Southwest Minnesota Horseshoe League playoffs were completed this week, with RALCO Feeds and Food Pride of Tracy each earning victories.
RALCO defeated State Farm Insurance of Canby 13-4 on Tuesday. Wally Runia and Dale Wieme each went 4-0 for RALCO. Runia had 78 ringers and had his high ringer game of the year with 18. Wieme notched 31 ringers and had his high ringer game of the year with 11.
Sig Armitage of State Farm Insurance of Canby went 2-2 to lead his team, tallying 134 ringers. The squad was eliminated from the tournament with the loss.
In other action, Food Pride of Tracy defeated First Independent Bank of Balaton 11-6. Ken Giles and Henry Hay each went 3-1 for Food Pride. Giles had 37 ringers and Hay had 27. Steve Hay and Howie Greenman went 2-1 and 1-0, respectively, for the winning side.
First Independent Bank of Balaton saw Lowell Wichman, Darrel Giles and Brian Swanson each go 2-2 on the day. The team was eliminated from the tournament.
On Tuesday, RALCO will host Tracy Food Pride in Balaton in a best-of-three series.
