Kruger and Matson awarded Avera Medical Group Scholarship
Hannah Kruger, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton High School graduate, and Alyssa Matson, Marshall High School graduate, are the recipients of the 2013 Avera Medical Group Scholarships. Each student was awarded $1,000 through this scholarship funded entirely by physicians in the Avera Medical Group Marshall. The scholarship is awarded annually to graduating seniors interested in pursuing a degree in a health care field.
United FCS awards $12,000 in scholarships
United FCS continues to support youth in local communities serviced by United FCS, through its scholarship program. Twenty-four recipients from 21 area high schools will receive a $500 scholarship. Recipients include: Grace Berckes, Canby; Jordan Lanoue, Milroy; and Shawna Rogotzke, Wabasso.
The United FCS scholarships are awarded to graduating high school students enrolled at an institution of higher education.To qualify, applicant's parents (or student) must be a United FCS customer with a grade point average of 3.0 or better. In addition, the applicant must live in a county served by United FCS. Selection criteria are based on academic aptitude, vocational promise, personal attributes and leadership qualities.
2013 Auxiliary Scholarship winners
The Avera Marshall Auxiliary has awarded two $1,000 scholarships and one additional $1,000 Taylor Family Junior Volunteer Scholarship to area high school students. Criteria for selection included academic excellence, participation in school activities, active community involvement and a demonstrated interest in the health care profession.
Congratulations to all three recipients: Gretchen Jensen, Hannah Meyer and Megan Vik.
Jensen is a graduate of Russell-Tyler-Ruthton High School in Tyler. Jensen has volunteered at church and went on two mission trips. She previously worked at Danebod Retirement Village in Tyler. Jensen plans to attend the University of South Dakota in Vermillion pursuing an occupational therapy degree.
Meyer graduated from Marshall High School. She works as a dietary aide at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center. Meyer plans to attend Briar Cliff University to become a nurse practitioner.
Taylor Family Junior Volunteer Scholarship
Vik is a graduate from Marshall High School. She completed a job shadow at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center. She is a cashier at Shopko. Vik plans to attend South Dakota State University in Brookings to become a registered nurse.
Lozinski wins American Legion Auxiliary scholarship
Meghan Lozinski is the winner of the American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship of $500.
Lozinski plans to attend college at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. She plans on majoring in English. She is the daughter of James and Emily Lozinski of Marshall.
