Marshall Blue blows out Granite Falls 18-0
The Marshall Blue VFW baseball team needed just seven hits to reach 18 runs in a dominant 18-0 five-inning win over Granite Falls Monday at Legion Field.
Blue broke the game open in the second inning when it struck for nine runs. Marshall kept its offensive surge going in the third and scored seven runs to put the contest even further out of reach.
Of Marshall's seven hits, five went for extra bases. Noah Winkelman and Derek Rasmussen each had two doubles in the game, and Matt Thompson had one.
Dylan Criquet-Danielson got the start for Marshall and tossed the first three innings. He was relieved by Rusty Swanson for the last two innings and the pair combined to toss a four-hit shutout.
Marshall Blue improves to 4-2 on the season and is back on the field today for a game in Luverne.

Marshall Orange stifles Redwood Falls in 10-0 win
Thomas Fischer, Justin Mettling and Blaise Andries each pitched two innings for the Marshall Orange VFW baseball team and combined to toss a one-hit shutout in a 10-8 win in six innings Monday in Redwood Falls.
Marshall Orange got off to a strong start, scoring five runs over the first two innings.
PJ Bot had a double for Marshall and finished the game with two hits and three RBIs. Jacob Deines had two hits and two RBIs, while Mettling and Nick Schultz each had two hits. Orange had eight hits total for the game.
Marshall Orange (1-2 overall) returns home for a game against Granite Falls Thursday in Marshall.

Big innings leads Pipestone past Tracy
Held scoreless over the first two innings, the Pipestone VFW baseball team exploded for 12 runs in the third inning of a 21-10 win over Tracy Monday in Tracy.
Tracy ended up out-hitting Pipestone 10-7 in the loss. Austin Gleis led the Tracy offense, going 3-for-4 with a double. Gavin Van Moer went 2-for-4.
Pipestone was led by Dominic Freese, who had a pair of doubles.
Tracy (2-2 overall) will try to bounce back Thursday with a game at Slayton.
