After leading the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in three offensive and two defensive categories, Southwest Minnesota State University senior softball first baseman Amy Dreessen was named to the 2013 Daktronics All-Central Region second team on Monday. The all-region first and second teams are sponsored by Daktronics, Inc. and are voted upon by members of teh College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Along with leading the NSIC during conference competition in hits (35), walks (23), on-base percentage (.577), chances (230) and putouts (227), Dreessen picked up first team All-NSIC honors this past year. She ranked in the top 10 in the NSIC in doubles, batting average, total bases, runs scored and slugging percentage.
A native of Elkhorn, Neb., Dreessen led the Mustangs in 2013 in batting average (.436), runs (28), hits (51), doubles (12), triples (2), slugging percentage (.726), walks (29) and on-base percentage (.554).
Dreessen ended her Mustang career ranking in the top five of SMSU history in on-base percentage (.436), walks (91), hit-by-pitch (13), chance (1,311), putouts (1,269), doubles (33) and home runs (18). She is in the SMSU career top 10 in total bases (259), slugging percentage (.512) and RBIs (92).
SMSU finished 2013 with a 19-21 overall record, finishing 11th in the 16-team NSIC with a conference record of 12-16.
