MARSHALL - Joel Garcia, 33, of Minneota, pleaded innocent in Lyon County District Court May 10 to charges of fifth degree controlled substance crime, violation of an order for protection and possession of drug paraphernalia. A complaint alleges Garcia was growing marijuana and violated an order for protection in Minneota on March 13. A trial date was set for July 24, with a pretrial hearing set for July 17.

MARSHALL - Elmi Hussein Ismail, 37, of Marshall, appeared in Lyon County District Court May 8 on charges of driving after cancellation - inimical to public safety. A complaint alleges Ismail drove with a canceled license in Marshall on April 4. A hearing was set for May 21. Bail was set at $3,000 without conditions or with conditions including appear in court, abide by laws and do not drive without a valid license.

MARSHALL - Charyl Rae Maeyaert, 44, of Lucan, appeared in Lyon County District Court May 8 on charges of issuing dishonored checks. A complaint alleges Maeyaert issued more than $900 in checks from closed or frozen accounts in Marshall in December and January. Bail was set at $5,000 without conditions or $2,000 or $200 cash with conditions including appear in court and abide by laws.

MARSHALL - Patrick James Page, 22, of Minneapolis, appeared in Lyon County District Court May 7 on charges of fifth degree controlled substance crime, giving a false name and date of birth to a peace officer, illegal possession of a prescription medication, driving after suspension, seatbelt violation and possession of a small amount of marijuana. A complaint alleges Page drove with a suspended license and illegally possessed Adderall on Jan. 27 in Marshall. A trial date was set for June 26, with a pretrial hearing set for June 18.

MARSHALL - Alex James Wall, 26, of Clarkfield, appeared in Lyon County District Court May 7 on charges of check forgery and offering forged checks. A complaint alleges Wall altered and used stolen checks in Marshall between May 15 and May 21, 2012. The court found probable cause for the charges. A hearing was set for June 4.

MARSHALL - Jack Denis Tubbs, 56, of Marshall, appeared in Lyon County District Court May 7 on charges of third degree driving while impaired. A complaint alleges Tubbs drove with an alcohol level of .25 in Marshall on April 7. A hearing was set for June 18.

MARSHALL - Juan Gabriel Fuentes, 37, of Marshall, pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court May 7 to charges of refusal to submit to a chemical test, court records said. Fuentes refused to take a chemical test in Marshall on March 8, court records said. Fuentes received a stayed sentence of 180 days in jail, a $400 fine and two years probation with conditions including complete 40 hours of community work service, and abide by laws.

MARSHALL - Steven Reed Sik, 26, of Cottonwood, pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court May 7 to charges of third degree driving while impaired, court records said. Sik drove with an alcohol level of .19 in Marshall on March 25 and had a prior DWI conviction in 2010, court records said. Sik was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 150 days stayed, pay an $800 fine and two years probation with conditions including serve 30 days in jail and abide by laws.
